Teen Seen @ Your Land/My Land

Your Land/My Land: Election'12
by Jonathan Horowtiz

This piece truly makes you view the other side of the argument. Politics is one of the few things that accounts for the polarization in America, and to me this piece succeeds at having the viewer become aware of the polarization in our politics by listening and viewing the two equally biased news channels. It's really a fabulous piece!

Workshop: No-Sew Clothing (ages 13+)

By CAM Raleigh | August 25, 2012

No-Sew Clothing Workshop
with instructor Shelley Smith

Registration open to everyone ages 13 and up!

Introducing the latest workshop in CAM Raleigh’s Art to Wear and Textiles Series: No-Sew Clothing! In this workshop students will learn approaches to clothing construction beyond use of needle and thread. Through wrapping, plaiting, binding and more participants will create a wearable garment of their choice. Students will leave this workshop with new skills, several patterns to experiment with at home, as well as a fully functional, wearable garment. Great for college students, moms and daughters, fathers and sons, or anyone looking to think outside the fashion box.

Shelley Smith is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Raleigh, North Carolina. Smith combines traditional and contemporary textiles techniques to create work that speaks to the nature of private versus public identity, as well as humans’ relationship to the wild. Smith received a Bachelor of Art + Design with a concentration in Fibers and Surface Design from North Carolina State University College of Design and has taught students at CAM Raleigh Summer Studios, Design Camp, and the after-school art program New Sense Studios, where she is a co-founder.
