Hopscotch: Gems

In 2012, John Usher and Lindsey Pitts landed in Washington, DC after years of floating from state-to-state making music as Birdlips, a lo-fi psychedelic folk duo. Their nomadic lifestyle had been adventurous, but not especially fulfilling. Settled in DC, they explored a more glamorous dream-pop sound, and with it, a focus on slick single releases over album-minded productions. The pay-off is a brooding and stark pop identity—dark, sexy, and woozy with lush synthesizers and sweeping electronic beats.
