Art and the App: A User Experience Design Workshop

Art and the App: A User Experience Design Workshop
March 23, 2013 / 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. / $50
CANCELLED – will offer again in FALL 2013!
with instructors Robin Vuchnich and Will Walkington (Masters candidates in Graphic Design, NC State University)
Open to high school students, grades 9-12

Join us in this workshop as we look at art and user experience in mobile application design. Using Alistair McClymont’s art app Unix Time as a starting point for discussion, participants will explore mobile applications as a platform for creating an interactive digital work of art. Students will engage in the processes of concepting, wireframing, and designing their own art apps and will leave the workshop with an app prototype of their own design! This workshop is a great introduction to the rapidly expanding field of user experience design.

Will Walkington holds a BA in fine art from Kalamazoo College, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in graphic design at NC State University’s College of Design. Prior to entering graduate school, he worked professionally for five years at an environmental graphic design firm in Chicago, in addition to freelance work involving print, web and exhibition projects.

Robin Vuchnich holds a BFA in Communication Arts from ECU and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Graphic Design at NC State University. Prior to graduate school, Robin served as a senior designer at Capstrat and later as Creative Director for the Raleigh communications agency, Signal Design. Robin is also the principal of her own business, Vuchnich Design. Over the past decade, Robin’s work has been consistently recognized by juried competitions including the Addys, the AIGA and PRINT Magazine.
