Hopscotch Day Party + First Friday 9/7/12

Where: CAM Raleigh, 409 W. Martin Street, co-sponsored by CAM/now, CAM Raleigh’s young professionals group.

CAM/now, CAM Raleigh’s affiliate group for young professionals, announces its co-sponsorship of The Love Language & Friends NC BBQ Jam, part of the Hopscotch Day Party Series. The event will take place on Friday, September 7 from 12:00p.m through 5:00p.m. Held on Martin and West Streets in front of CAM Raleigh, The Love Language will headline the event. In addition to the festivities, BBQ will be available for purchase from Raleigh’s finest weekend warrior pitmasters and several food trucks, including Porchetta, Humble Pig, and Baguettaboutit. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch HOOPscotch, a musicians’ charity basketball game, and purchase discounted tickets for CAM/now’s upcoming Fright at the Museum event. In addition to The Love Language, musical guests will include Lonnie Walker, The American West, The Lollipops and DJ SPCLGST. “CAM Raleigh is excited to partner with Hopscotch to bring these talented artists to the Triangle,” says Elysia Borowy-Reeder, Executive Director of CAM Raleigh. “Not only will these artists offer entertainment, but they’ll also be battling it out for a good cause” when they go head to-head in HOOPscotch, a charity basketball game honoring the Triangle’s obsession with basketball. Proceeds of the game will benefit Activate Good.

While enjoying music and basketball, attendees may also purchase food and beer. Holders of CAM/now Museum Memberships (over the age of 21) will receive two tickets for beverage courtesy of PBR. Attendees who sign up for a CAM/now membership during the event will also receive these benefits, plus a CAM/now t-shirt. All attendees will be able to purchase tickets to CAM/now’s October 27, 2012 event Fright at the Museum event at a 50% discount.

CAM Raleigh will be open to the public during the event and is pleased to be exhibiting Marilyn Minter’s I’m Not Much But I’m All I Think About and Andy Hall’s FORM SPECIAL: Solar Projects and Site Collages. Admission is $5 and free for museum members, children 10 and under, NC State University College of Design students, faculty, and staff. Portions of Martin Street and West Street will be closed for this event, however parking for the Museum and the event will be available along the open portions of both streets and in several nearby parking garages.

Every Wednesday leading up to the September 7 event, CAM/now will post Facebook trivia questions. A winner picked at random will receive a free CAM/now t-shirt. Those who answer all three questions correctly will be entered into a drawing for two free Hopscotch 3-Day All-Show wristbands (retail value $110 each). The winner will be announced on on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

The Hopscotch Music Festival Day Party will take place Friday September 7, 2012 at West + Martin Streets during which Martin Street will be closed off all day until 5:00 pm. CAM Raleigh will be open to visitors throughout Friday’s Day Party however the Museum’s parking lot will be unavailable during that time.

Please note that First Friday programming on 9/7/12 will end at 9:00 pm after which entry will be for attendees of Hopscotch only.
