Urban Sketching Group
The CAM Raleigh Urban Sketching Group is a monthly group intended for all skill levels interested in exercising, exploring or expanding their drawing skills. The Urban Sketching Group meets at CAM Raleigh and then enters the urban settings surrounding the museum in the Warehouse District, and sometimes further into downtown Raleigh. Pausing at inspiring vistas, ignored buildings, curious landscapes, or forgotten details, the goal of the Urban Sketching group is to take time to study our surroundings and exercise our dormant drawing skills. All media that can pack into a pocket, backpack, or purse are encouraged and participants are expected to bring their own supplies.
CAM Urban Sketching is a loose and open group, designed for those that are looking to revive their skills among the revelry of the contemporary landscape and people or crowd drawing skills. All are welcome to join, regardless of experience level.
All participants should check-in at the CAM Raleigh front desk upon arrival. Participants must be 18+.
Suggested drawing media:
Pen, pencil, watercolor, charcoal, marker, colored pencil.
Suggested drawing materials:
Watercolor paper, bond paper, bristol, hardstock paper.
Bound field sketchbooks are highly encouraged but not required.
The CAM Raleigh Urban Sketching Group meets on the second Saturday of every month. For more detail, please see the Event Calendar.
