Position Summary
The Gallery Educator (GE) is responsible for a range of visitor services duties including: engaging visitors, answering and directing calls, implementing security for the museum galleries, leading guided tours, educating visitors on current exhibitions, facilitating front desk financial transactions, administering light cleaning and daily gallery upkeep, and assisting with administrative duties. In addition to regular museum public hours, GE’s also assist with special events as assigned. The person in this position must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. The position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds on a daily basis.

Position requires proactive involvement in the execution of responsibilities ; great attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a group; project management skills; good judgement and positive demeanor in working with the public, staff, community, and outside vendors. Other tasks as assigned to support museum programs and operations.

A solid working knowledge and interest in contemporary art is required. Proficiency in more than one language and/or American Sign Language is highly desirable. Previous experience working with K-12 students and people living with disabilities is strongly preferred.
