Recover from the busy holiday season and kick off 2012 in style at CAM Raleigh’s January First Friday. The museum is open late and will provide a new hands-on activity at the creation station.
The Museum is proud to host a pop-up performance from the North Carolina Opera as part of its First Friday programming. Members of the cast of the North Carolina Opera’s January production of LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES will perform live at CAM Raleigh on January 6 at 8:00 pm. In this fascinating and beautiful opera by Philip Glass, a brother and sister live in a fantasy world, a “game” of their own imagining. When friends from the outside world try to enter, the harmless game turns into a fierce and tragic struggle.
In the Museum Galleries: Open until 10:00 p.m.
The Independent Weekly Gallery features CAM Raleigh’s newest installment of the emerging artist series with a new media exhibition ID:ENTITY Self: Perception + Reality.
The main gallery will host work from the Boys & Girls Clubs in Wake County as part of their National Fine Arts Exhibit Program. Selected works from the Wake County exhibit will travel on to be exhibited alongside works from over 1,100 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.
Music and a cash bar will round out the visitor experience. Admission is $5. CAM Raleigh members, children 10 and under, and NC State students, staff, and faculty are admitted free.
