The Graphic Design Intern Experience

By christinefleming | March 24, 2011

Hello! I’m Christine Fleming, the Design Camp Graphic Design Intern for CAM Raleigh. I do a variety of graphic design work for Design Camp, as well as some administrative tasks during the camper registration process. I have also been able to attend a few CAM Raleigh meetings discussing the purpose and functionality of the museum which enabled me to see behind-the-scenes of a museum and witness the relationship between the staff and board members and how they interact and work together.

Some of the graphic design materials I have made so far include a series of counselor recruitment posters with original illustrations…

…a set of animal icons to be added to an existing kit of parts to be used on various print materials…

…signage using the kit of parts to designate the different studios of design camp, as well as designing way finding for the camp and the camp t-shirt.

I am excited to be a part of such a cutting-edge museum that not only has some awesome exhibitions and events lined up, but also has a series of amazing educational programs for all ages. I have a long relationship with Design Camp in particular—I was a high school camper six years ago, then came to NC State for graphic design and was a counselor at Design Camp for two summers, and now I am the Graphic Design Intern! I have a deep appreciation for Design Camp because of how it helped me find my place and my passion, so I love being able to contribute back to it and hopefully help others find their own passions!
